The Ranon ko Kalumabayan(love for the Youth) sponsored a Lecture-Workshop on Youth Rights entitled "Know Your Rights and Fight for Them" as its first kick-off program reflected to their advocacy which is youth empowerment on December 12, 2007 at the College of Social Sciences and Humanities Language Center.
Atty. Aquil Tamano, Associate Provincial Prosecutor of Lanao del Sur and currently lecturer in the MSU-College of Law served as Keynote Speaker. In his speech, Atty. Tamano said "the rights are not given by the State but it is inherent upon the People because the power of the States emanates from the People. Atty. Roel Camorro, Chairman of the Philosophy Department also a lecturer in the MSU-College of Law served as the Resource Speaker of the said event, who tackled the different Youth Rights in the National and International Paradigm.
After the Lecture of the Speakers, an open forum followed which let the participants to ask the questions that bothers their minds and will awake their interests in exercising these rights. This event was participated by the youths of Mindanao State University. The participants were served with snacks.
A Group Discussion followed after the open forum where the participants were asked to contribute their notions and experiences regarding youth rights violation in their own community.
